Norfolk Landscape Project

A landscaped garden in North Tuddenham, Norfolk

Project Spotlight:

North Tuddenham Garden Transformation

Mission: To design and build a garden that offers both entertaining spaces and relaxing zones, with levels of interest throughout.

Date: Spring 2025

The Brief

We first met our clients in Spring 2025, where they shared their vision for transforming their outdoor space into a modern, functional, and inviting garden. The brief was clear — create distinct areas for entertaining and relaxation, while incorporating different levels and textures to add depth and visual interest throughout the garden.

After several design discussions and drawings, we developed a plan that perfectly balanced style, practicality, and atmosphere. Once the design was agreed upon, we moved on to choosing materials that complemented both the layout and the home.

The clients chose a clean, modern palette, featuring light grey 800x800mm porcelain paving paired beautifully with timeless Egyptian limestone setts — a combination that delivers a sleek yet natural look. With designs approved and materials selected, a start date was set!

Project Timeline

Work began in April 2025, with completion scheduled for the summer months, ensuring clients could enjoy their new space at its best.

Our Initial Steps

Before construction could begin, we carried out essential site preparation

Clearing existing turf and marking out the new design.

With the garden’s varied levels, several height changes had to be managed carefully.

To ensure accuracy throughout the build, we established multiple datums around the perimeter of the site.

Challenges and Solutions

The garden’s design featured both raised and sunken areas, which required a strong and stable foundation.

We used crushed concrete as a sub-base to raise these areas, and installed deep footings and blockwork to support the sunken firepit area and the main koi pond.

A unique challenge arose with the pond — a conventional liner wasn’t suitable for this project due to its bespoke shape and depth. Instead, we opted for a liquid rubber liner, applied in three coats to ensure a watertight, durable finish. This innovative approach allowed us to achieve a clean, modern aesthetic while maintaining practicality.
